Last month, we were given the amazing opportunity to travel to New York City. I was there for work but we managed to squeeze in a few days of NYC fun in the blistering May sun.
Here is us being hit by the eight-hour flight and time difference. Moments after, we fell asleep on a rock in Central Park. Contrary to popular belief, we woke up with our shoes still on our feet. No visual of the Home Alone pigeon lady, sadly.
Needles to say, the huge tick on my bucket list did not disappoint as this iconic steel giant offered what all those songs and movies talk about. It's a place like no other.
The squares, although at times airless and confined, were buzzing with an eclectic mix of people, who seemed to sway to the rhythm of the sleepless city.
Having grown up watching this city develop through TV screens, I instantly felt at home. To add to it, the people are friendly and straight talking which is at first a shock coming from polite little UK but once you get used to this efficient way of talking, effective walking and no-nonsense approach, you quickly understand why a city so busy seems to function in unison.
Highlight for us (because we're that type of people) was the food. Oh, good golly, the food! Everywhere you turn there are food carts and delicious smells swimming out of cafes and diners. It was lucky we were there for a short week. The rising cholesterol levels and indigestions were becoming the order of the day!
This guy here comes from a little place in Morton St called The Doughnut Project. Crafted by a cool dude named Troy, the flavours are anything but traditional. I recommend fitting a visit in early in the morning. We showed up at midday and they had completely sold out of the heavenly hoops.
My darling Ed, knowing just how highbrow I am, took me on a Gossip Girl tour of the city. Look Blair, I'm on your steps!
Sadly, no Bass seemed to roam The Palace...
If you've not had the chance to visit this concrete jungle where dreams are made, I suggest you save your pennies, book a flight and land yourself right on the lap of Miss Liberty herself!
Okay, now the showing off comes to an end #sorrynotsorry.
