Sorry to be cliche but breakfast in my house, is king.
And as with any good ritual, variety is what differentiates it from old boring routine. This is why, I wanted to quickly share this yummy idea with you because I know I'm not the only one struggling to think up delicious ways in which to kick start the day.
Here's my take on my favourite breakfast food of all times - The French Toast!
What you'll need:
- 2/3 Eggs
- Dash of milk
- Bread (I use wholemeal for an extra nutritious punch)
- Pinch of brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- Vanilla essence (optional)
- Knob of Butter
- Fruit of your choice
- Maple Syrup
- Kebab sticks
Combine the eggs, milk, brown sugar, salt and vanilla (if using) in a wide, deep plate.
Soak up the bread on both sides and leave to one side. It should be moist but still firm (otherwise it will start to crumble and make a huge horrid mess)
Lubricate a frying pan with a little butter and pop your soaked bread in there, turning from side to side until golden. Take your toast out when done and sprinkle a little cinnamon over them.
Cut your bread into squares. Chop your chosen fruit to similar size. In this picture, I have used peaches. Yum!
Pierce your toast and fruit onto the sticks. Duh!
Place on dish and treacle over some (or loads of) maple syrup.
Serve with delicious cup of tea and have a merry day!
